many stocks can be traded in the pre-marketand post-market trading session starting at 8am est to the market open to the market openat 9:30 est and again at 4pm est or 4:15 for etfs to 8pm est. this pre and post-marketdata can be utilized in the tradestation chart by modifying the session properties by usingthe toolbar icon sessions here in the tool bar. i'm going to click on the sessions iconand i can choose the u.s. stock with just the post-market, just the pre-market, or bothpre and post-market data displayed. i've changed the color of the pre and post-market datato yellow. so that it can highlights it in the chart. here you can see the post-markethere the market at 4 o'clock we can see the post-market going till 8 o'clock then thepre-market the open and the morning the regular
session and here you can see we are in thepost-market here right now. keep in mind that trading is usually light in the pre and post-marketsession and you can display the trade column for these sessions with the volume indicator.i'm going to go the insert indicator, and i'm going to select the volume indicator,and click "ok". in order to trade a stock in the pre or post market you need to usethe duration of a day plus or a good till cancel plus or a good till cancel day plusorder. orders in the pre and post-markets must be limit orders. notice that we are inthe post market right now only the limit orders are available to place an order. to go backin the chart to display the regular sessions again click on the sessions icon and go backto regular session.
